Official Publication of the American Association for the History of Nursing
As of April 1, 2023 all manuscript submissions should be sent to
Jane Brooks at [email protected].
When a manuscript is submitted, strictly according to Chicago Style as in the author guidelines, it goes out for peer review before being rejected, revised, or accepted. The journal is published every January.
In addition to accepting the usual manuscripts on any topic in nursing history, the editors are seeking papers to put into special sections. Please see the gray box below for more information.
Call for Manuscripts! Subsection: “Hidden in Plain Sight” Volume 32We continue to seek manuscript submissions for the section of Nursing History Review titled "Hidden in Plain Sight", highlighting nurses from underrepresented groups (e.g.: diverse racial and ethnic groups from the global community), men and women from religious communities, and nurses from LGBTQ communities. Manuscripts may cover material from any time period in history. Given the often-scarce primary sources available for the study of these under-represented nurses, the manuscripts can be shorter than usual: from 5-20 pages (Double spaced, Chicago Style 16th edition, 12 pt.) Photographs may be included but should be sent as a separate file with permission to use. In the cover letter for submission, authors should note that the manuscript should be considered for the section: “Hidden in Plain Sight.” Manuscripts should be submitted to [email protected] no later than December 1, 2022. |
