AAHN Teaching Nursing History Webinar February 25, 2026 Title: A Necessary Integration: Engaging Students with Nursing History Grounds Their Understanding of Nursing Ethics Presenter: Marsha D. Fowler, PhD, MDiv, MS, RN, FAAN, FRSA Description: During this webinar, you will explore the inseparability of nursing ethics and nursing history in nursing education curricula. You will examine how engaging students with nursing history enhances students’ understanding of one of six structural relationships in nursing ethics, the ethical relationship between the nurse/nursing profession and society, and the role of the ANA Code of Ethics. You will receive 1) module/lesson topic suggestions that address both nursing history and nursing ethics; 2) learning resources to include primary as well as key secondary historical sources that have informed and shaped nursing ethics over the past century; and 3) sample learning activities to simultaneously engage students with nursing history and ethics. The nursing history and ethics content shared within this webinar aligns with “Domain 9: Professionalism” of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials.
