Nightingale and the Crimean War Event on July 5th

This is to let you know about an upcoming event that we have organised in conjunction with the British Library - ‘Florence Nightingale and the Crimean War Revisited’ - to be held online on Monday 5 July, 5.30 - 7.00 pm (BST), 12:30 - 2:00 pm (ET).

The event features:

  • British Library curator Alex Hailey discussing the BL’s Crimean War & Nightingale collections
  • Professor Holly Furneaux (Cardiff) on ‘Treating the enemy’ - on cross-lines medical treatment during the Crimean War
  • Dr Jonathan Memel and myself from our project talking about Nightingale and the idea of a ‘home front’ in the Crimean War.

You can find more details on the event webpage, and register via EventBrite here. Please do share the event with your networks!

This is likely to be the last event that we organise as part of the ‘Nightingale Comes Home’ project, which officially concludes in August.

Our exhibition at Lakeside Arts, Nottingham, will remain open until 5 September. If you haven’t been already and would like to do so, you can book your place here

Best wishes,
