Plan now to attend the AAHN Conference in Chester, UK!

Curious about nurses’ role in the Bombing Blitz of England during World War II?  Join us in Chester, UK next September to hear our keynote speaker, Dr. Jane Brooks, discuss her research on this topic! And, by the way, add to your cv by presenting at an international conference!  Or use the conference as a networking opportunity to meet historians from around the world present their research on nursing and healthcare!

Bombing of London, World War II

Yes, no doubt you’re busy with the end of the semester and the upcoming holidays, but perhaps over the semester break you might get a chance to write an abstract for AAHN (DUE FEBRUARY 1, 2020) and make plans to join us in the United Kingdom next September 10 -12 for our annual conference!  It will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in the charming old city of Chester, founded as a Roman fortress in the first century A.D.  Known for its extensive Roman walls, and distinguished by its Tudor-style buildings, the city boasts a shopping district, cozy pubs, and a medieval cathedral – as well as the University of Chester, our host for the conference.  According to one website: “Its bewitching beauty and unique atmosphere make Chester one of Britain’s most popular places for an unforgettable short break.” [i]

For those of you who may be retired, or perhaps have a little extra time to stay abroad (having planned for a guest speaker in your class ;-)  --- DO try to join a group of AAHN members and friends  taking part in a post-conference bus tour of the Lake District (think castles, waterfalls, high tea, and a short trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, to see the castle and the surgeon’s museum) before returning to Manchester to depart for home on the 17th.  (This tour will leave Sunday morning, September 13 from the hotel.)  (See aahn.org for more details)

A note to the procrastinators and those who are undecided:  Chester will be hosting a famous horse race the week/weekend of our conference, so hotel space may be limited.  Sign up early to reserve a place with a refundable deposit. Contact Lisa or Jenn at aahn.org to do so.

Do check our website for further details on both the conference and the side trip.

Feel free to contact me for further information:   [email protected].

In the meantime, best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season!
